Four questions I ask before I write a word

My first meeting with a client has no writing in it. Just four questions, and my chai going cold. Most leaders can't answer the third one on the first try.

Before I write a word for a leader, I ask four questions.
Most can't answer the third one on the first try.

My first meeting with a client has no writing in it. Just questions. And my chai going cold.

1. What should this open for you a year from now?

Most people plan the message. Very few plan the door it should open, like a board seat or a stage.

2. Who exactly is it for?

One woman. Detailed enough that you'd spot her across a wedding hall.

3. What could only your life have written?

This is where senior Muslim women go silent. The answer is there. It's just been edited down for years so it would fit in.

Where your faith meets your field is where your authority lives.

4. What will still be working in five years without you pushing it?

A post scrolls away by the weekend. A framework or a book keeps working long after.

The writing is the easy part after this hour.

Try them on yourself tonight. Take your time with number 3.
